The three-man “fact-finding commission” set up by the Head of Judiciary, Sadeq Larijani, to investigate post-election events has declared that the claims of prison rape raised by Mehdi Karoubi are”fake and politically motivated”. In a detailed letter to Larijani, the commission said: “Not only is it the case that no document exists substantiating rape and sexual harassment of the individuals named by Karoubi, and that therefore the claims raised in this regard are unfounded and void of truth, but also the presented claims and documents are completely fake and have been compiled to divert public opinion.” The rrport recommended action be taken against Karoubi and those who made the rape allegations. — The families of political prisoners strongly condemned the continued illegal arrests of their loved ones and asked, after 90 days, how much longer these violations would continue, NowRouz News reports.
— Mohammad Reza Jalaipour, the manager of the Green Wave campaign, has been freed after three months in prison, NowRouz News reports.
The National Security Council, headed by President Ahmadinejad, has banned all the domestic media from carrying any news about Mousavi, Karoubi or the disputed election, NowRouz News reports. It says the news has been confirmed by three reformist newspapers and represent s a “new era of censorship”.
Despite intense security measures in the holy city of Qom, people held a demonstration in front of Grand Ayatollah Sanei’s office on Friday night after he had delivered a “fiery speech” to mark Qadr night. They chanted “death to the dictator”, “Coup administration, resign, resign” and “We will meet on Qods Day”, according to the mowjcamp website. The protests are recorded on this video and this video.
— In his speech tonight marking Qadr night, Majid Ansari, a member of the Assembly of Combatant Clergymen, condemned those “spreading lies and insulting Moussavi, Karoubi and other prominent reformist figures”, according to mowjcamp. He said the “idols” who try to take God’s place should be broken and, in a direct swipe at Khamenei, said those who take power when unqualified are autocrats and tyrants.

— The US insisted today that its agreement to wide-ranging talks with Iran did not mean it accepted Tehran’s assertion that Iran’s nuclear programme was not up for discussion. “This may not have been a topic they wanted to be brought up, but I can assure you it’s a topic we’ll bring up,” White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said. — Fars news agency, quoting an informed source, said President Obama had tried to tempt Tehran into talks by offering a $2.5 billion deal to sell 20 new Boeing jets and spare parts to Iran. — The Civil Aviation Organisation has dubbed US sanctions against Iran’s airlines an “act against humanity”. Rather than punishing the government as intended, they were in fact hurting the civilians forced to fly in ancient aircraft, a spokesman said. PressTV

The presidents of Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan declared they would not discuss Caspian Sea issues in Iran’s absence as thet gathered for an “unofficial forum” in the Kazakhstan city of Aktau.
